A Hale County native has been selected as the next Chief of Police for the City of Tuscaloosa.

Michael Baygents, the son of Randy Baygents of Greensboro and Evelyn Redd of Akron, was announced as the city’s new police chief last week. He has served 26 years with TPD prior to being promoted to the chief position.
