The Greensboro City Council adopted an ordinance restricting heavy truck traffic on West Main Street and approved a $9,875 quote to replace all carpet in City Hall at its April 27 meeting.
Mayor Pro-tem Mary Bragg presided in the absence of Mayor Howard, who was out due to illness. Councilmember Lewis was also absent. Council members Bragg, Shepherd, Kyser, and Curtis were present.
Ordinance No. 2026-01, restricting heavy truck traffic on West Main Street, was adopted on a motion by Curtis, seconded simultaneously by Shepherd and Kyser. Resident Buzzy Barnette thanked the council for passing the ordinance during public comments.
The council also approved $9,875 to replace all carpet throughout City Hall, on a motion by Bragg, seconded simultaneously by Shepherd and Curtis.
In other action, the council approved a change in the alcohol license for Geechies Place. The establishment, which had held an ABC Lounge Liquor License, has applied through the ABC Board for a Restaurant Retail Liquor License. Shepherd motioned to approve, seconded by Bragg. Council members Bragg, Shepherd, and Kyser voted in favor. Curtis abstained.
The council set a workshop for May 6, 2026, at 6 p.m. to discuss the possible purchase of a street sweeper and a Bobcat.
The council also approved payment of $46,918.17 in bills and adopted the minutes from the April 14 meeting.
