Gov. Kay Ivey has awarded $800,000 in grants to support narcotics enforcement across the state, with $100,000 each going to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the state’s seven regional drug enforcement task forces.
The regional task force serving Perry and Hale counties is administered through the Marengo County Commission and covers Bibb, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Wilcox counties. Officers from law enforcement agencies within the region serve on the task force and have jurisdiction to pursue narcotics cases statewide.
ALEA reported that in 2025, the task force made 908 arrests and confiscated $490,000, along with a variety of drugs and illegal substances.
The grants are funded by the U.S. Department of Justice and administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
