Wilnesha Cottrell of Greensboro, AL was named to the President’s List for the Spring 2025 semester at Lawson State Community College.

Wilnesha was one of 164 students named to the Spring 2025 President’s List.

President’s List Scholars attained a grade point average of 4.0, consisting of a minimum course load of no fewer than twelve (12) semester hours of collegelevel courses or above.

With two campuses located in Bessemer and Birmingham, Alabama, Lawson State Community College provides seamless administrative processes and educational support services for students, members of the community, and other constituents. Lawson State is composed of two main divisions–an academic division and a career/ technical division and prepares students for gainful employment and career advancement through comprehensive offerings including college transfer, workforce development, adult education, and dual enrollment programs.

    The congregation of Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 157th Church Anniversary and Annual Homecoming during morning worship on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. This year’s guests will include Pastor Richard Bennett and the Palestine Baptist Church family.     The Alabama Department of Mental Health will host the Open Doors: Rural Disability Support Fair on July 7, 2025, from 5pm- 7pm at the Hale County College and Career Academy. Advocacy organizations and local service providers will be on hand offering assistance with employment, healthcare, housing, education, and legal issues. Family and caregiver support, transition and pre-employment transition services will be available. This is a free event open to people with disabilities, caregivers, families, and community members.
