Ronald Thomas Barnette, age 70, of Greensboro, passed away at DCH Regional Medical Center with his family by his side on June 6, 2025.
Born in Marion on January 30, 1955, Ronald and his twin brother Donald were the youngest of 5 sons to Virgil Barnette and Doris Scarbrough Barnette. He retired in 2023 after 42 years with International Paper.
Ronald was a man of many talents. He kept a beautiful yard and knew something about almost everything. He had a knack for fixing things and had a workshop full of tools and random parts that only he knew his way around. To know Ronald was to love him. He genuinely enjoyed making people laugh and always had a twinkle in his eye and a good story to tell. He also found joy in helping others and was never too busy to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a family man, completely devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. Ronald’s joyful spirit, unwavering integrity, and boundless love for his family made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of almost 53 years, Alice Hall Barnette; his son, Chris Barnette (Jennifer) of Tuscaloosa; his daughter, Shannon Barnette LaRosa (Lewis) of Marietta, GA; his brothers: Emory Barnette, Stephen Barnette (Pam), and Donald Barnette (Gayle); and his four cherished grandchildren: Eve Barnette, Reagan Barnette, Lucy LaRosa, and James LaRosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roy Barnette.
