Selma man charged with attempting to steal car in Hale Co.

A Selma man has been charged in connection with an attempted vehicle theft in Hale County that occurred on the night of May 18.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the District Court of Hale County, Omarion Takimbay Sturdivant, 23, of Selma, is accused of attempting to steal a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport using deception or unauthorized control. The incident took place around 11:00 p.m. and involved breaking a rear window and attempting to tamper with the vehicle’s steering column.

Sturdivant was arrested on May 19 and remains in the Hale County Jail on a felony charge of Attempted Theft of Property in the First Degree. The charge is classified as a Class C felony under Alabama law.

A $10,000 bond has been set in the case.
