An Akron man has been charged with Receiving Stolen Property in the Second Degree in Hale County. According to the criminal complaint against Roger Ryan, 59, the charge alleges that on or about Nov. 30, Ryan received a stolen firearm—a black Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard .380 with serial number KBX2316. The property allegedly belonged to Steven Anderson. The complaint alleges that Ryan either knew the property was stolen or had reasonable grounds to believe it was stolen, and that he did not intend to return it to its rightful owner. This offense is a violation of Section 13A-8-18 of the Code of Alabama 1975.
The complaint was filed on Dec. 2, 2024, following Ryan’s arrest on the same day. A bond was set at $5,000.
