Greensboro man indicted on capital murder charges in deadly 2024 shooting incident

A Greensboro man has been formally indicted on multiple charges including capital murder in connection with a deadly 2024 shooting.

Court records show that 19-year-old Chardarius Leon Moore was indicted by a Hale County grand jury in September 2024 and remains in the Hale County Jail without bond. Moore faces three felony charges: capital murder for firing into a dwelling, capital murder for shooting from a vehicle, and discharging a firearm into an unoccupied building.

According to the indictment, Moore is accused of intentionally causing the death of Terrell Lashawn Powell by firing a deadly weapon from outside into a dwelling where Powell was located. A second capital murder charge alleges Moore fired the weapon from a vehicle. A third charge states that Moore discharged a firearm into the home of a second person.

The offenses are alleged to have occurred on September 26, 2024.

The case is being prosecuted by the Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. Moore is expected to face trial in Hale County Circuit Court.

Court records indicate Moore is set to be arraigned on the charges in court July 21.
