National Hospital Week 2025 is taking place from May 11th to 17th! This week offers a special opportunity to recognize and honor the dedicated healthcare professionals who make hospitals and health systems thrive. At Hale County Hospital, we are proud to celebrate the hard work, resilience, and dedication of our team, who continue to serve the Greensboro and greater Hale County area with unwavering commitment.
A Legacy of Care and Community Impact
Since its founding in 1963, Hale County Hospital has been a cornerstone of healthcare for the region. Constructed with a combination of federal, state, and county funds, the hospital was built at a cost of $491,000 to address a critical shortage of healthcare facilities. For more than half a century, it has served as the primary healthcare provider for Hale County and beyond, offering essential medical services and promoting community well-being.
In the past year alone, the hospital provided care for over 900 inpatient stays, managed over 10,000 emergency department visits, and recorded 33,213 outpatient visits. Despite the challenges of rural healthcare, the hospital remains committed to supporting those most in need, spending $380,000 on care for the uninsured.
Economic and Employment Contributions
Beyond healthcare, Hale County Hospital plays a vital role in the local economy. As one of Greensboro’s largest employers, the hospital has a total employment impact of over 150 positions. Annually, the hospital’s operations infuse over $27 million into the local economy, with a total labor income of $11 million. This economic presence supports local businesses and fosters stability in a rural area with limited alternative economic drivers.
