Stephen William May was chosen as Alumnus of the Year for the College of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University. In a letter dated March 30, Jeff Davis, Executive Direction of MSU’s Alumni Association, congratulated May on his accomplishments. “Your outstanding service and achievements have distinguished you as an esteemed leader in your profession and community,” wrote Davis. “Billy” as he is known locally, was born and raised in Hale County. His former residence was May Farm, four miles west of Sawyerville. May now resides in Tuscaloosa. An awards banquet will be held in honor of May and seven other Alumnus of the Year Award recipients, representing eight academic institutions at Mississippi State. The Alumni Awards Banquet is scheduled for Friday, May 30, on the MSU campus. May is pictured above, second from left, on a recent visit to Greensboro with family.
