A vehicle crash in Hale County claimed the life of a young Akron woman April 6. Q’ueentria S. Ward, 26, was killed when the car she was driving struck a fallen tree on the roadway. The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Ward was driving a 2012 Jeep Compass along Hale County Road 42 near Clary Drive, about one mile northeast of Akron, when the vehicle collided with a tree that had come down across the roadway. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Funeral services for Ward will be held Saturday, April 19, at 12 noon at First Baptist Church of Akron, located at 7160 1st Avenue North. Rev. West Moore will officiate. Burial will follow at New Akron Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church beginning one hour prior to the service.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 18, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Washington & Paige Mortuary in Greensboro.
