Jeff Peoples, chairman, president, and CEO of Alabama Power, came to the MMI campus last Wednesday and gave a speech to the cadets in the Anthony J. Rane Center for Leadership. Peoples, a 40+ year employee of Southern Company, emphasized the importance of hard work during his speech to cadets in the chapel. Peoples toured the campus and observed the pass-in-review by the Corps of Cadets. He was impressed by the discipline and structure of the environment. The son of a blacksmith, Peoples was the first member of his family to attend college. He credits his parents for an upbringing that prepared him to lead in his chosen field. Also present for Peoples’ speech was MMI alumnus Jimmy Rane, class of 1964. A friend of Peoples, Rane is the founder, president, and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving.
